In the drilling engineering, after using stage collar, small drilling tool will be run to drill out the plug, aluminum alloy seat and sleeve to achieve drift, which has extended the completion schedule, increased the drilling cost. Now, we have designed and manufactured drill-free stage cementer, the operating process is the same with the common one, however, after operation, the gravity plug, closing plug enter landing sleeve, and finally automatically fall onto the float collar at the casing bottom. Therefore, there is no need for drift, and the logging can be implemented, shortening 2-3 days for completion, greatly reducing drilling cost.

The drill-free stage cementer is composed of stage collar assembly and plug groups. The stage collar assembly is composed of upper/lower sub, outer shell, opening sleeve, closing sleeve, landing sleeve and hollow plug etc. The plug group is composed of bottom plug, gravity plug and closing plug. The materials can be steel, cast iron and rubber etc, the specific gravity is much higher than mud, and the OD is smaller than casing ID and drift, therefore, easily falling onto the float collar.

The advantages are as follows:

1. obvious mud bumping at the first stage；

2. easy mud port opening at the second stage；

3. reliable mud port closing；

4. The gravity plug and closing plug automatically disconnect from closing sleeve and fall to well bottom, without drilling out.
